Aspire inspires with summer planting
From windmills to tanks, Aspire Landscape Management have been hard at work creating vibrant and exciting installations for the residents of Ashford to enjoy.
This summer make sure you take the time to visit the windmill installation in the Memorial Gardens. This stunning structure is comprised of 3,100 plug plants whilst the mound it sits on was made using 35 tonnes of top soil and over 3,000 bedding plants! Designed to celebrate the one hundred year anniversary of the Willesborough Windmill this installation is not to be missed.
This year Aspire have also placed three large three-tier planters around the Tank, creating stunning fountains of flowers. These, alongside hanging baskets, ensure the Tank looks its best as we celebrate the 100 year anniversary of its arrival in Ashford.
But that’s not all that’s new; giant planters have been introduced outside Elwick Place adding a splash of colour and greenery to the leisure complex.
This year, for the first time, Aspire have introduced barrier troughs to railings in and around the town centre. These troughs are designed to brighten up the roads and walkways around Ashford.
Ashford's Mark IV Floral Tank Tribute has also made a welcome return this summer and can be seen on Vicarage Lane and the planting surrounding the civic badge is now fully established providing another burst of colour in the Memorial Gardens.
The planting for the summer is planned far in advance and the focus this year was on warm, bright colours to create welcoming spaces in and around the town centre. The general bedding is made up of over 22,000 Geraniums in various candy coloured hues.
Andrew Buchanan, Portfolio holder for Environment and Land Management, said: “The team at Aspire Landscape Management work incredibly hard all year round making the borough look its best.
The summer planting is just one of many examples of the team’s creativity and dedication and I hope the residents of Ashford enjoy and appreciate these displays throughout the summer.”
