Shoppers can enjoy free parking in council-owned car parks in Ashford and Tenterden on Sundays before Christmas.
Ashford Borough Council is once again offering free parking in both towns to encourage as many people as possible to do their Christmas shopping locally, and support local businesses.
Free parking will be available all day in council-run car parks in Ashford and Tenterden on the following days:
Sunday 9 December
Sunday 16 December
Sunday 23 December
The only exceptions will be the new Elwick Place car park (Ashford), where normal charges will apply and the Recreation Ground Road car park (Tenterden), where normal charges will apply on Sunday 23 December.
This seasonal parking offer is in addition to the existing free parking scheme that is available in selected council-run car parks at certain times, e.g. free after 3pm in Edinburgh Road. More details can be found via our website.
Don’t forget that all car parks run by Ashford Borough Council are free after 6pm all year round. After 6pm, you can also use the parking bays in Ashford High Street, North Street and Bank Street for free as charges don’t apply.
Cllr Brad Bradford, portfolio holder for Community Safety and Wellbeing, said: “Once again we’re able to offer free parking in Ashford and Tenterden on Sundays in the run up to Christmas.
“The festive season is one of the busiest shopping periods of the year, and Ashford and Tenterden have a lot to offer shoppers. We encourage residents to support their home town by doing their Christmas shopping locally and help boost trade for our hardworking, home-grown businesses.”
The council hopes this additional seasonal free parking will support our regular free parking offer, attract more visitors into the High Street, boost trade for local businesses and make the town an attractive option for new business ventures.
