The General Election 2019 – dates for your diary!
With the General Election taking place on Thursday 12 December 2019, the following dates will be of interest to people not currently registered to vote or who wish to request a postal or proxy vote in order to take part in the ballot:
Anyone wishing to stand in the election should submit the relevant paperwork by 4pm on Thursday 14 November 2019. For more information please call Electoral Services on 01233 330402.
The list of candidates (known as the statement of persons nominated) will be published later that day (at 5pm on 14 November).
The last date on which you can register to vote in the General Election is Tuesday 26 November.
If you want to have a postal vote in the General Election then you must have submitted your application by 5pm on Tuesday 26 November.
If you have requested a postal ballot paper then this will be issued on Monday 25 November (for more information on postal votes and postal ballot papers visit your vote matters).
If you wish to vote by proxy in the General Election then you need to have submitted your application by 5pm on Wednesday 4 December (for more information visit our website).
The count for the parliamentary election for Ashford will take place overnight at the Stour Leisure Centre in Ashford and the result will be posted on the council’s website and also on its social media feeds.
